It is no secret that our Star Cabin is our most popular style in our SheShed kitsets. One of our original cabin styles with beautiful double-glazed French doors and lovely pitched roof, the star cabin has both a rustic country feel, yet can be adapted to sit nicely within a more modern or contemporary styled property. With 9m2 of floorspace, the Star cabin rests comfortably in the balance between providing plenty of interior space, but also fitting within most local council building restrictions.

Featured in interiors Adore Magazine, Loni & Mark's Star Cabin was built for their modern farmhouse meets coastal home renovation in Brisbane's bayside, as a detached home office.
“We had always dreamed of having a backyard studio where Mark could work from and I can work in peace and quiet inside. We stumbled across SheShed online and knew it was a perfect fit with it’s barn-like feel, pitched ceiling and exposed beams. We hired a carpenter to help us put it together. It comes as a kit so you get everything you need to build it, including the roof shingles.”
A great little SheShed Star Cabin build in Queensland, where Vanessa can work her magic, engaging great talent for Microsoft, right from her own back yard garden. “This is my corner of the world that I can step from home into work mode.” She also says that a reverse-cycle air conditioner is a must for Brisbane’s summers!"
Modern grey and white exterior Julia & Chris needed extra space to add to their property for a busy growing family. “We now use the studio as a kids retreat with internet connection so they can do their home schooling and hangout with cousins and friends. In addition to the phone support, we were extremely impressed with the quality of the materials that arrived in the kit. Everyone that has seen the studio has been very impressed.”
Lea stumbled upon SheShed while seeking a high quality, multipurpose, affordable garden studio that could double as a sleepout for her teenage daughter. The finishing touch for their sleepout cabin was timber decking replete with an Adirondack chair for soaking in the sun. “We painted the timber inside and out before building. It’s the same colour as our house, Resene Botticelli blue. The SheShed team gave lots of help from beginning to end plus afterwards. They always made sure we got what we asked for and followed up to check it had arrived.”
Alex is passionate about music and his parents decided to build a SheShed Star cabin on their property, so that he could have a space to practice without the extra noise in the house. The space is now also used as a backyard retreat amongst the trees for the whole family to spend time in. “Our son uses this as a music room. We love it, it is ideal for our needs. The décor, landscaping and location make it a popular spot in the weekends.”
Using a SheShed Star Cabin with a few additions, including an outdoor shower and detached toilet, Mathew started a project named Noah’s Hut - an Airbnb escape to help people reconnect their soul with mother nature. “The ordering and delivery process of the cabin to our remote location was very easy. Great communication with the team. The builders enjoyed working with the cabin and customising the open air shower/toilet annex to match. The materials are great quality, including the double glazing. We are very happy with the outcome and we have had good feedback from our guests.”
Sarah’s Star Cabin is her tranquil sanctuary surrounded by black swans, mallard ducks and pukekos. On the farm there’s always something to do but in her She Shed, the job list, and stress melts away. After recently losing her husband, Sarah’s SheShed has become her place to rest and reflect. To take time to read, listen to music, or just sit and watch the life of the lake. “I began work renovating a wetland area on my farm, and it looked great. What followed was a home-built pontoon on the lake, and then a bright idea that I needed to turn this lovely space into a sanctuary for myself. What I needed was a shed. Without hesitation my builder friend recommended a She Shed.”
We love listening to Carly, wife, mother, broadcasting personality, TV and radio host, writer, columnist, MC and general multi skilled media person. She inspires us to look after ourselves and that it’s okay to step back and take a break! “I’m really looking forward to spending some time here and channelling what’s really important, changing up the way I work a bit and having some space to think and create #thisyearscareer and all it brings. Not entirely sure what that is as yet! Am opening up to new challenges that fit in with my family, goals, skills and ethics Thank you guys - it’s a dream come to fruition!”
Looking for a stylish option to create a beauty studio, Trish fell in love with the SheShed Star Cabin, which she now runs her Mount Maunganui based business The Beauty Den from. “I found SheSheds at the field days and fell in love! The cottage look and feel of the shed matched our 70’s styled home. Putting it together was really simple and styling it to make it our own was so much fun! We’ve had power fitted, painted both inside and out, blonded the floor panels. We want to add a big deck soon and looking at putting in a heat pump for client comfort too.”
Nelson based Hole Diggers Dog Spa had a huge amount of business growth after purchasing their SheShed Star Cabin to run their Dog Grooming Salon. Even once they out grew the space, they just could not part with their Star and this then became a much-loved family retreat by the pool. “Yes, we can guarantee that the She Shed had a part to play in our success. Having the shed was a good buy. Both for advertising and look, customers always raved about it. We had started our Dog Spa in a rental cabin and we were looking for something a bit more permanent. As a builder myself, we knew we wanted to build. We saw the SheShed on display and I knew I couldn’t build anything to that finish and style so it was a very easy choice. As my wife Lauryce knows, if I say buy it, it has to be good!”
